Contemporary Artist and Maker
Recent work in various media including charcoal, pencils, oils and acrylic
I have been a creative and a maker all my life. My formal art training stopped at the age of 15 as my educators did not believe that art was a real subject.
I trained as a teacher and facilitated art in a variety of settings from mainstream schools to a mens' remand prison and in care homes. In the winter of 2018 and again in 2019 I went to Bridge House Art in the North West Highlands of Scotland and got the art education I had always wanted. Now I’m studying on an MA in Art and Design and Independent project at the University of Brighton.
The Arts and its impact
As a firm believer that the arts can change lives, a charity that is close to my heart is The Choir with No Name. Running weekly choir sessions for homeless and marginalised people, they have four choirs: their newest of which is local to me in Brighton.
Prior to the current situation the choir gets together weekly to rehearse with a decent dinner at the end of rehearsal, and they perform regularly at local homeless hostels to the Royal Festival Hall and everywhere in between. Currently as many who can are meeting for a virtual choir online to keep up the vital
So far I have raised £900 for them but Covid19 meant that my outlets are currently closed.
I only need to sell a few more to reach my target of £1,000 so this is my last push.
